World of Tank, a Communication Channel with My Son

Why did I start playing the game World of Tank? My son likes that game. So I recently started playing it to get along with him. I'm happy when I play it with him. My son is 10 years old and going through a stormy period of adolescence. I have the feeling that I don't understand him well. And sometimes I'm worried about him. This game is like a communication channel between him and me. If it is about the game, he speaks to me first. For example, he says "T34 is very strong", or "T34 can make money." So, if his stormy period is over, will I stop playing games? I don't think so. I like playing games myself. Playing games relieves my stress, too. So I think I'll continue playing games no matter how old he gets.

Line Rangers

These days I'm enjoying playing a game called Line Rangers which uses the Line messenger platform. I've cleared 123 stages and achieved level 57. It's a very simple mobile game where I protect my missile station from the enemies' attack by making a team of rangers. Rangers are obtained whenever a new stage is cleared. It consists of lots of characters who have different skills or capabilities: fast moving-speed, attack skill, durability against the attack of the enemies. There are some points of fun that make people continue play this game: different effects depending on a combination of rangers, characters-merging system, and contingency to get rangers. In this game, I cannot buy a specific ranger that I exactly want. This game adopts a slot machine system to get some items or game characters. It means that when I can get one of several rangers, I have to draw a lot then I will, or will not get a ranger. So it depends on the luck if I will get a ranger. It's a common way that is used by Korean game companies for making more money. On the other hand, most foreign games sell items that save time in completing time-consuming tasks or give additional chances to play. It's quite different. These days, there is a movement to make game companies announce the probability of the item slot machine.

My Golden Age of Playing Games

My golden age of game was when I was in the middle school. At that time I enjoyed many Apple II-based games like Lode Runner, Rescue Raiders. In Lode Runner, the runner is supposed to obstruct enemies by making a lode and to collect gold. To achieve this goal, a player has to make a smart plan and move quickly. The game Rescue Raiders is very similar to the modern game Line Rangers. The purpose of this game is to defend your base from raiders and to destroy raiders' base by making and streamlining out various weapons. There is another two games. Do you know Prince of Persia? I enjoyed this game a lot when I was in the university along with Lemmings. Did you know that Prince of Persia is the first game that used motion capture? Motion capture is to make a real motion for a computer program. So in that game, when the prince jumps, it looks very similar to a real jumping action. The last game is Lemmings. It is a game where you save rats - lemmings - that are constantly going forward. You can give some skills to rats so that they can make to the goal safely. When I think about those games I played, I think my favorite games are of the kind of puzzle.

MSI(Mid-Season Invitational), the LOL world event

There are five major leagues of LOL in the world. In EU, China, Korea, North America and Southeast Asia. And several minor leagues exist - maybe in Hong Kong and Brazil. All champions in each league were invited to MSI - 8 teams in total were invited - and they fought in the full league to filter out 4 teams. After the league survived(?), 4 teams stepped into the semi-finals. And 2 teams were confronted with each other in the final. The two teams were EDG (Edward Gaming from LPL, the Chinese league) and SKT T1 (from LCK, the Korean league). EDG won the cup 3 to 2, which means they fought with each other in full sets). And they proved that there is no difference between the Korean league and those of the other countries.
