run in the family 집안 내력이야 앞선 부분에서 나왔던 표현입니다. 오늘은 약간 다른 표현을 배워보겠습니다. 말 그대로입니다.
That's the history of our family. 집안 내력이에요.
My father wants me to inherit his profession [business].
My father wants me to follow in his footsteps.
아버지는 내가 당신의 직업을 이어받길 원하셔.
follow in one's footsteps (흔히 친척 등의 직업을) 그대로 따르다, 앞서 가신 분의 발자국을 그대로 밟고 가면 그 사람과 똑같은 일을 하게 되겠죠?
He is a teacher by heredity. 그는 교육자 집안 출신의 교사야.
by heredity 혈통적으로 라는 뜻으로 집안 내력이고 어찌 보면 뻐속까지 라는 뜻이 뭍어있습니다.
Everyone in the family is like that. 식구들이 다 그래요.
이런 표현도 집안 내력(분위기)를 나타내는 것이죠~
Let's say grace. 식사 기도를 합시다.
He is a really [very] dutiful [devoted/obedient] son.
그는 효자 노릇을 톡톡히 해요.
We live happily [harmoniously] together.
우리는 오순도순 잘 살고 있어요.
It's my grandmother's memorial service day.
